NY Uncontested Divorce Not as Prevalent as Decades Ago
Articles April 8th, 2010
According to the most recent federal studies, there are a number of reasons why marriages are falling apart at a faster rate today than just a few decades ago. A NY uncontested divorce is practically unheard of because in most marriages, there is always something to fight over or about – children, money or other assets which get in the way of the love a couple once had for each other.
Other information the federal research project discovered was that women who were college educated were more likely to be married than those who never finished high school and those people who married before they were 25 had a higher divorce rate than those couples who waited until after they matured to the quarter century or older to get married.
The federal findings were not surprising to the many psychologists, marriage counselors, and therapists that studied the results with great interest. Most commented that with people waiting to get married comes a greater sense of stability and therefore the likely conclusion would be less divorce.
Of the people studied, there were several who entered into a separation agreement NY as a trial but many were reunited, again because of the maturity level in the couple. Those who remained separated did so for a longer period of time and some never made it to the courthouse to sign papers for an official divorce. Those people were content to be married but living apart, some say it works for them.
One of the more consistent findings is that the older the people were when they decided to get married, the more likely they were to have signed a prenuptial agreement NY. This would allow for both parties to protect themselves in the event one of them decided the marriage was not working for them and wanted out. A prenuptial agreement would protect the interests of both parties whether they were for stocks and bonds or a retirement fund, the prenup would spell out who got what if a marriage ended before one of the spouses died.
